December 11, 2009 Students in the Scotia-Glenville Middle School GIVE service learning program collected 266 coats to donate to the YWCA battered women's shelter in Schenectady. The students also collected food for the Scotia Food Pantry and costmetics for the women's shelter. Today, Luann Santabarbara, a coordinator at the YWCA, and college intern Amanda Distel, from the human services department at Schenectady County Community College, came to the Middle School to collect the coats and thank the students. Teaching Assistant Sharon Dereski was the GIVE advisor for the coat and food drives. Below are some pictures from today's pickup: |
