Four Scotia-Glenville Middle School students have been chosen to read part of the essays they wrote for the 14th annual Black History Month Creative Expression Contest on local television and radio stations.

The children's work will appear on channels 6, 9, 10, 13, Fox 23, WMHT, WYPX, Bethlehem Cable Access, Schenectady Cable Access, Time Warner Cable on Demand and Channel 16 - Schenectady.

The four students - Jacob Falace, Paige Nash, Jeremiah Parsons and Jesse Rankin - are all in Sarah Cardinali's class at the Middle School. They all wrote acrostic poems about famous African Americans.about famous African-Americans.

February is Black History Month.

• The Public Service Announcements began on Monday, Feb. 1, when Jeremiah Parsons could be heard and seen reading his entry about Martin Luther King on local air waves.

• Jesse Rankin's entry about Jackie Robinson will be heard on Capital Region television and radio stations on Wednesday, Feb. 3;

• Jacob Falace's writing about Louis Armstrong will follow on Monday, Feb. 8; and

• Paige Nash's entry about Duke Ellington will be seen and heard across the area on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The contest and program is sponsored by the local chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Filming and recording was held at the College of St. Rose.

A reception will be held on Feb. 7 at the Stephen & Harriet Myers Middle School in Albany.
